About Jennifer

Jennifer has been in the industry since 2005, and has been a partner and owner of two successful salons in Charleston, WV – Spa Elements and Renew Studio. She trained at Carver Beauty Academy and has taken advanced education from the Graham Webb International Academy in Washington, DC. Knowledge is power, and she is always continuing her education, most recently in color trends/techniques such as Balayage and color melting, and has completed a haircut technique training from Head Shape Matters

Throughout my career, I have enjoyed each of my clients and love creating their unique looks. More specifically, I found the passion to help my clients repair their hair, and keep it healthy. In 2017 I found Monat, a naturally based line of products, who shares my same mission. All the products I use, promote healthier hair, as well as being cruelty free: Monat, Jack Winn Color, Pulp Riot, Trionics Hair Care, and Olaplex. I’m fortunate to be in this industry and excited to continue my career.

New Salon Policies

• When you arrive for your appointment please stay in your car, I will text when the room has been sanitized and safe for you to come in.
• Please do not be late. I am going to be working on a very tight schedule, specific to what you are scheduled for and extra time to sanitize after.
• Cancellation policy - If you cancel or do not show up to your appointment without giving me 24 hours’ notice you will be charged a cancelation fee. The ONLY exception to this rule is if you are showing any symptoms of covid-19 or any other illness.
• You must wash or sanitize your hands upon arrival.
• General public spaces (stairwell, waiting room, restrooms) will be sanitized multiple times per day. However, I cannot guarantee all public areas will be sanitized prior to each individual appointment. Please use caution when in these areas.
• No guests! Clients will be seen one at a time and you are not allowed to bring anyone into the salon with you. This includes children.
• There will be no double booking. If you and friend, child, spouse etc. usually come together for appointments you will no longer be able to do that.
• Please bring as little personal items with you as possible. I will have a small plastic bin to put your keys, wallet, phone, small purse) etc. in that I can sanitize between appointments.
• You MUST wear a mask. I currently have a very small number of disposable masks, so if at all possible please supply your own mask. Also be aware that at some point during your service you may have to remove the loops from around your ears and hold the facemask to your face so that I am able to cut your hair. Also, if you are getting your hair colored and don’t want to get color on the ear loops you will need to hold your mask for your entire appointment.
• You must come with clean dry hair (washed the day of your appointment) if you are a receiving a color service or a dry haircut. If you would like a wet haircut you are welcome to come in with wet hair if you wish to avoid the shampoo bowl (however the shampoo bowl will be sanitized prior to each client).
• Payment - I currently accept ApplePay, Venmo and PayPal and I will be accepting cash provided you have correct change and it is placed in a zip top bag before handing it to me. Checks will not be accepted because I can not properly disinfectant them.

Here is a list of the things I will be implementing for myself, most of these I have been doing for years but a few are new:

• All touchable surfaces will be properly disinfected between each client. This includes but not limited to Styling chair, shampoo bowl and chair, all countertops, and floors
• I have purchased an air purifier that has 4 levels of filtration including UV light filtration (which is supposed to kill viruses)
• All shampoo bottles, styling product bottle, and styling tools will be properly disinfected between each client
• All capes and towels will be one use only until laundered and then stored in a clean airtight container
• All Combs, brushes, clippers, shears etc. will be properly disinfected between each client
• Hand sanitizer will be readily accessible for use in the studio and I will try and keep some in stock for purchase

One more thing to note. I will NOT be raising my prices during this time!!! But going this long between appointments means extra color may be needed so there may be a slight difference in the pricing that you’re used to. Also, some of you may have used box color or a semi, demi, or organic color thinking it would be better than box color. Anything used other than exactly what I use, will cause a difference in your hair and could have very bad reaction to the professional chemicals that I use. This will require a color correction appointment, which will cost more than your typical appointment does. So please fess up if you have used anything during this time to get you though, I want to make sure your hair remains healthy (or get it back into a healthy condition).
